MMAPA Applauds Bipartisan Letter To President Biden Highlighting Medicare Advantage Disparity, Urgin

Bipartisan members of Congress call on Biden administration to address long-standing funding disparities in Puerto Rico's Medicare Advantage program

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Roberto García, president of the Medicaid and Medicare Advantage Products Association of Puerto Rico (MMAPA) issued the following statement today on a bipartisan letter to President Biden urging the administration to provide critical funding to Puerto Rico's Medicare Advantage (MA) program. The letter was led by Resident Commissioner González-Colón and signed by eight of her colleagues in the House of Representatives.

"We are grateful to Resident Commissioner Jenniffer González-Colón for leading the charge on this letter to President Biden highlighting the long-standing challenges facing Puerto Rico's health care system. More than 600,000 American seniors in Puerto Rico rely on MA and they deserve the same high-quality health care as seniors on the mainland.

"The administration has authority to take immediate action that would reduce MA disparities and better equip providers to meet the needs of their patients – we urge them to do so. We remain committed to working with President Biden and his administration to implement these solutions and give much-needed relief to a health care system that has been stretched thin for decades."
