United for fair and sustainable financing of the health system in Puerto Rico

MMAPA thanks all organizations that participated in the most recent Healthcare and Business Community Meeting convened by the Medicaid and Medicare Advantage Products Association of Puerto Rico.

Representatives from healthcare providers, health plans, community-based service providers, and other stakeholders demonstrated a shared commitment and a clear understanding of the collective responsibility we hold toward the millions of people in Puerto Rico who depend on Medicaid and Medicare Advantage.

During the meeting, the group examined a rigorous socioeconomic analysis that outlined the current landscape of Puerto Rico’s healthcare system. Participants also received updates on public health programs, including Medicaid and Medicare Advantage.

The conversation prioritized resuming education and dialogue in 2026 on the challenges facing Puerto Rico’s Medicaid program, particularly as the federal legislation that provided multi-year funding approaches expiration. Participants also outlined strategies to advance before Congress and the federal government, recognizing 2026 as a critical moment for the sustainability of Puerto Rico’s healthcare system.

MMAPA remains firmly committed to strengthening collaboration with focus, prudence, and strategic vision. While sectors may differ in perspective, we share a clear objective: securing stable and fair healthcare funding for Puerto Rico through the Medicaid and Medicare Advantage programs.

United in one voice, we work together for the patients, families, and communities who rely on a strong and sustainable healthcare system in Puerto Rico.
